Covenant

Jesus replies, “What God has joined, man must not separate”  (Matthew 19:6).  Lord, do not let our hearts be hardened to our covenant with you.  Help marriages to be strong and true to your teaching and help those who choose celibacy for the sake of your kingdom remain faithful to their promises.  Help us all to imitate your faithful and fruitful chaste love.  Keep us faithful to your teaching and never let us be separated from you.

We asked for it.

The master says, “Should you not have pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you.” (Matthew 18:33).  The truth is we ask for this treatment daily, “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”  Lord shape our hearts to be merciful like yours.
